Like most companies, we are faced with the volatility of fuel and energy related costs, which we have effectively addressed through a Fuel & Energy Surcharge (FES) Sliding Scale. We have used this method since 2003, having made only two adjustments to the scales itself since then.
Fuel & Energy Surcharges (FES), calculated as a Percentage of the Net Rate charged (less driver gratuity), do not always coincide exactly with our actual fuel cost increases. This is due to the many factors involved in each particular service trip, including the actual price charged, the type of vehicle used, the miles travelled (as well as the locations and regions travelled to), and also the timing of our actual fuel purchases. Even so, Ramblin Express believes that the Percentage method is the best and most accurate way of assessing these increases, across the variety of services and diverse vehicle types we offer. Further, the Percentage method is relatively easy to understand and calculate, and has been widely accepted by our customers since we implemented this Surcharge in 2003.

Fuel & Energy Surcharges (F.E.S.) are expected to be re-evaluated and adjusted in the event that average fuel costs per gallon exceed our highest Tier for 2 consecutive months.
